St. John's was founded in 1862 on the west side of Bay City, Michigan. It is served by Pastors Paul E. Schweppe and Paul E. Schaewe. We are one of the largest WELS congregations in northern Michigan.

The mission of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, according to Christ's command, is to proclaim the true Gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ, by Word and Sacraments, nurturing believers and reaching out to the people of our community, as well as throughout the world.
